Descendants of John PIPER

John Piper was born on March 23, 1821 in Buckland, Devonshire, England. He married Mary Ann Hobbs about 1849, and by her had 7 children: Walter, William, Samuel, Louise, Mary, Thomas, and Albert. He was a slate miner by trade, and when experienced help was needed in the new slate mines of Northampton County, Pennsylvania, he was recruited to come to America to work. Sailing from Liverpool, England, he and his entire family arrived in New York on July 3, 1871 aboard the steamship "City of Brussels". The family lived near the Chapman Quarry in Washington Township. After a few years, they relocated to Bangor, PA. This is the story of his descendants.
